The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has warned the faithful against a fake prophet and preacher.
In a letter to the dioceses June 29, Archbishop Romulo Valles of Davao, CBCP President, urged the faithful to be “very careful” with the group called “Maria Divine Mercy”.
“They bring confusion and propagate erroneous, false and distorted teachings to our Catholic faithful,” said Archbishop Valles.
Maria Divine Mercy is the name assumed by what is believed to be a self-proclaimed Irish seer called Mary Carberry.

Carberry has claimed for years to have received messages from Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary.

Among these messages included apocalyptic predictions about Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation, and words to the effect that Pope Francis was a false prophet.

Isa sa mga nabanggit niya sa aklat niyang The Book of Secrets ay ang prediksyon niya tungkol sa pagreresign ni Pope Benedict XVI at sinasabi niyang bulaang propeta daw si Pope Francis.

Base sa naging pahayag niya, pinapalabas niya na hindi nagresign si Pope Benedict XVI, kundi siya ay pilit na pinapaalis ng mga nasa Vatican. Totoo naman kaya itong pahayag niya? Sa FAREWELL ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS POPE BENEDICT XVI TO THE EMINENT CARDINALS PRESENT IN ROME na sinalita ni Pope Benedict XVI sa Clementine Hall noong February 28, 2013, ay ganito ang ating makikita:
“I would like to tell you that I shall continue to be close to you with my prayers, especially in these coming days, that you may be completely docile to the action of the Holy Spirit in the election of the new pope. May the Lord show you the one whom he wants. And among you, in the College of Cardinals, there is also the future pope to whom today I promise my unconditional reverence and obedience.”

Kaya, mali talaga ang propetang ito na nagpapakalat ng kasinungalingan. Kaya, bilang pagsunod sa bilin ng Iglesia Katolika sa pamamagitan ng CBCP, ay hindi tayo dapat maging involved sa Maria Divine Mercy. Hindi kasi ito aprubado ng Simbahang Katoliko. Dahil din dito, si Mary Carberry ay isa sa mga gumagawa ng propesiya na hindi totoo at ganito ang sinasabi ng Biblia tungkol dito:

Pagka ang isang propeta ay nagsasalita sa pangalan ng Panginoon, kung ang bagay na sinasabi ay hindi sumunod ni mangyari, ay hindi sinalita ng Panginoon ang bagay na yaon: ang propetang yaon ay nagsalita ng kahambugan, huwag mong katatakutan siya.
